How do I get AirPlay devices to work?

Sound Control with the System Extension installed (more information) works with AirPlay devices. However, Sound Control can't see the AirPlay devices until it is connected. Select your AirPlay device as your Mac's output device from System Settings, Audio MIDI Setup, or from the Sound Output status item.
