macOS 15+
On macOS 15 and later, Sound Siphon can capture your Mac's Audio without installing any components, however to create virtual input devices that other apps can use to capture audio a PlugIn must be installed.
If you downloaded Sound Siphon from the Static Z website you will find the installer in Sound Siphon's Settings -> Support where you can install it.
If your copy of Sound Siphon came from the Mac App Store then you can download the latest version of the PlugIn here:
macOS 14.x and Earlier
On macOS 14.x and earlier, Sound Siphon uses a System Extension to capture your Mac's Audio.
System Extension
- Installation requires booting into Recovery mode and granting permission for the System Extension to load.
- Supports AirPlay
- No added output latency
Installing System Audio Extension
After installing the System Audio Extension, you must grant permission for your Mac to load it. Follow these steps to grant permission:
- Shut down your Mac.
- Boot into Recovery Mode.
- Select "Terminal" from the Utilities menu in the menu bar.
- Enter the following command:
spctl kext-consent add LDG5AR2ES5
- Restart your Mac.
The command above tells your Mac to allow System Extensions by Static Z Software to load. LDG5AR2ES5 is our Apple supplied unique developer ID.
